He will have a break until at least August 12 when he meets with the Oncologist (Dr. Danso). He will not return to Radiology until October 16 - he will continue to have blood work and a scan - we will update you when we find out more!!!! - God has placed His Hand of protection on Dad and he is doing great - Thank you so much for all the prayers - check out the following posting of Ty's wedding..........

Grandpa and Tyler with their brides!

Here is a picture of Mom and Dad at their grandson's (Tyler) wedding. Tyler married Jackie this weekend and it was a sweet event. It was an answer to prayer and a blessing that Dad felt well enough to attend this union. They have welcomed their new granddaughter with open arms and are excited for their next adventure together. Congrats Tyler and Jackie!

Quick Visit with the Radiologist

Today was Dad's 31st Radiation Treatment (the 3rd treatment after the field was refined to a smaller area). Dr. Mehta (Radiologist) also quickly spoke with Dad regarding the non-diagnostic CT Scan that was performed on July 7. The tumor is shrinking ! ! ! By approximately 10-30%. Praise God for this answer to prayer. Dr. said that typically the tumor will continue to shrink even after the Radiation stops.

The following shows Dad's upcoming treatment plans...
  • 2 more Radiation Treatments this week (Tuesday 7/15 & Wednesday 7/16)
  • 2 day break so that Dad can go to Tyler's Wedding (Thurs 7/17 & Friday 7/18)
  • Radiation Every Day next week (July 21, 22, 23, 24 & 25)

This will complete the 10 Treatments in the Refined Field

  • Chemo-Lite - Tomorrow - Tuesday 7/15
  • Chemo-Lite - Tuesday 7/22

It is understood that he will have a 2 week rest from treatment and then get 3 "Full" Chemo Treatments - not just "Chemo-Lite" This is a treatment that he has not yet received. Please pray for strength and endurance as he receives these 3 treatments. He would like to be well enough to attend Ryan's wedding on Aug 9.

Thank you for your prayers - the treatments are reducing the size of the tumor and Dad is doing well. We know that it has been the power of prayer and God's grace and mercy.

Praise HIM ! ! !

A Classic Ride for a Classic Guy

Everyday, Cancer Services provides a ride to town so that Dad can receive his Radiation Treatment. His grandson, Troy, wanted to give him a special treat. Troy's neighbor has a 1930 Model A..... Troy made arrangements to have Dad picked up at home and delivered to the hospital in style!!!

Since this doesn't happen every day... Mom invited a few friends and family over for tea & lemonade.... Dad was surprised.... take a look at the following slide show .... What a special day for Dad/Grandpa !!!!!

Dad's 4th of July Celebration

Dad enjoys pool-side time with Shawn and newest member of his family - Molly (Shawn & Becky's one-month old daughter). We have much to celebrate ! ! !

Appointment with Dr. Danso (Oncologist)

Dad had his third appointment with Dr. Danso (Oncologist) today. There was a bit of confusion as to his treatment plan. Yesterday, July 7, Dad had a non-diagnostic CT Scan in Dr. Mehta's office. The results should be explained to Dad on Monday morning (July 14). At that time, hopefully, we will have a better understanding of when Radiation will end - When they are done with Radiation, Dad will receive 3 doses of Full Chemo (1 every week for 3 weeks) This will be stronger than the "Chemo-Light" that he has been receiving.

Tomorrow (7/9) Dad will return to Radiation to have the area on his chest re-marked to line up with the CT Scan results and his Radiation will resume on Thursday 7/10 - Since Dad did not receive Radiation today or will not tomorrow, he did not receive Chemo today. Hopefully, by the beginning of next week, everyone will have a better understanding of the treatment plan.

Please pray for perseverance, patience with the confusion between Radiology and Oncology and that Dad continues to stay healthy. He is doing well - Thank you so much for your prayers.
